Angelica Lisk-Hann is the first black female stunt coordinator in Canada and one of a mere handful in the world, and this is her story!
ANGELICA IN ACTION
Her mother, Ann Lisk was a model of Dutch and Spanish decent, her father an African-American professional football player and her uncle a professional stock car and motorcycle racer. Angelica excelled at every sport imaginable as a child and teenager. Her mother fought to keep her in dance and modeling, but all Angelica wanted to do was beat boys at sports and get dirty. She moved away from her small town of Trenton, Ontario when she was scouted by a track and field coach to move to Toronto and train for the Olympic's. When in the big city, she was immediately drawn to the arts. After booking a few commercials, dancing in videos and small acting roles, as well as singing in the popular group Simply Majestic, Angelica was introduced to the world of stunts in 1997 by top Canadian Stunt coordinator Branko Racki while playing a Hench woman in the movie Half Baked.
Angelica is an advocate for all of her stunt family, but with an extreme focus on diverse performers.
Angelica was honoured to be the first stunt coordinator to receive the Canadian Screen Academy Award in 2020 for Best Stunt Coordinator for her work on the TV Series Mary Kills People. She has also been nominated for two additional CSA's, an NAACP nomination for her work on the hit Amazon TV series Cross, and was the 2023 ACTRA Awards of Excellence recipient. More recently, Angelica hosted the 23rd ACTRA Awards in Toronto, making history as the first stunt professionalonal to have been given the honor.

Thanks to @GoldBond, @DITRFoundation, and the one and only @therealmaryjblige, we were able to host an incredible zoom event celebrating Black women within the stunt industry. These women often don’t get the recognition they deserve, and we wanted to find a way to applaud them for all that they’re capable of. We also wanted to show young Black women that stunts is a promising (and possible!) career path.
We engaged in inspiring dialogue around how stunt doubles put their skin to the test, and discussed the need for more women like them within the category.
Be a #SkinChampion.

It’s an unfortunate truth that most Black stuntwomen don’t get recognized for all that they’re capable of, and for the courageous roles that they play in some of our favorite shows and movies. But we’re changing that, and championing all that they are and all that their skin can do. We need more women like them to pursue stunt as a career, and thanks to @goldbond’s donation, we are excited to announce the launch of our Skin Champions in Stunts program.
